Data is at the heart of everything N Brown does, and the Data Science Division works across the business to find ways to turn data-derived insights into positive outcomes for people shopping with us.  Our mission is to find customers who love our brands and to uncover the products and propositions which are perfect for them - so that they can look and feel amazing!  The N Brown Data Science team is one of the best in the country and we are constantly improving our codebase, infrastructure and processes to support the work of Data Science and Analytics in all of our departments.  At this time we are looking to expand by bringing in a Senior Data Scientist to help us succeed. 

About the role: 

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be an experienced voice in the Data Science team, designing, building and improving the ML products which help N Brown to delight our customers. 

You will be given opportunity to demonstrate and improve your interpersonal skills, coordinating projects and supporting other members of the team.  At the same time you will accelerate the development of our data products, including models for dynamic pricing, customer lifetime value and incremental uplift. 

As a Senior Data Scientist you will: 

  • Distill complex Data Science problems to a set of simpler problems, and develop solutions to those. 

  • Write efficient, production level code, developing test plans and reviewing other people’s code and building coding standards for all to follow. 

  • Manage business goals and help translate sprint goals into prioritised task plans for the team. 

What you’ll need to succeed: 

  • Excellent Python and SQL skills. 

  • Excellent understanding of ML frameworks and algorithms such as Tensorflow and Scikit Learn. 

  • Very good communication skills. 

  • Good commercial grounding in applying ML models and experience of what it takes to build models effectively. 

  • Good knowledge of AWS SageMaker, S3, Athena, and associated AWS services, or equivalent. 

  • Practical knowledge of manipulating many types of data, and experience in using it to produce business value. 

Desirable skills: 

  • Experience of working with Data Lakes/Data Warehouses and associated technologies. 

  • Experience of the software development life cycle and the product end-to-end, including deployment. 

  • Hands-on experience with containerisation.
