Reporting to the Senior Designers, the role of a Womenswear Specialist Designer is an innovative and exciting role at the N Brown Group. Womenswear Specialist Designer – working on the JD Williams and Simply Be brands

Reporting to the Senior Designers, the role of a Womenswear Specialist Designer is an innovative and exciting role at the N Brown Group. You will work closely with our Senior Designers who lead the teams, as well as the Design Director to deliver key fashion trends, colour and shape direction to bring to market trend-led, contemporary ranges that makes our customers look fabulous – with a real focus on fit and innovation at it’s core.

You will be integral to the product development and selection process to deliver exciting and commercial Specialist clothing ranges ( with a focus on Outerwear, Casual Bottoms and Denim) , with a key focus on demonstrating a full understanding of our customers’ needs from a quality, fashion and fit point of view.


What you’ll be responsible for as Womenswear Specialist Designer:

Collaborate with the Senior Designer and the design team on trend direction for the forthcoming season in order to build exciting clothing ranges which embrace our customers’ needs and wants.

Support & guide the Buying team with your knowledge on the Specialist areas highlighted above, ensuring newness is introduced to the range as well as bestseller updates.

Keeping up to date with market intelligence, specifically around key competitors and future trends from catwalks; and sharing this insight and inspiration with the Design and Buying Teams regularly.

Briefing and liaising with suppliers on new development and designs to ensure products are finessed to the highest of standards for sign offs.

Working with QA and buying on pushing innovation in fabric, fit and overall silhouette.

Modernisation and design of product ranges in line with key competitors, driving improved net sales performance and gains in market share.

Strong understanding of the JD Williams and Simply Be customer.


What you will need to succeed as a Specialist Designer:

  • A minimum 5+ years’ experience of working in the retail industry ( in-house/supplier background) as a Womenswear Designer with strong specialist knowledge in Outerwear, Casual Bottoms and /or Denim being advantageous for this role.
  • CAD, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop knowledge
  • Excellent time management and strong verbal and written communication skills along with ability to communicate via a variety of media with various stakeholders
