The Role and responsibilities

We are looking for someone to join our Health and Safety team as a Health and Safety Administrator within our Logistics department and they will be at the very heart of the team! This role will require a full, clean driving license however it is not a necessity for you to own a car. You will work across all three N Brown sites in Manchester, Shaw and Hadfield. This person will:

  • With support, learn how to complete regular site inspections.
  • Attend meetings, take notes and communicate with different teams, including our Covid-19 site champions, First Aiders and Fire Marshalls to name a few!
  • Learn about First Aid Management: including ordering and maintaining first aid stock, keeping our first aider lists up to date and, with support, making sure there are enough people at all three sites that can provide first aid.
  • Learn about Accident Management: including keeping any information related to accidents up to date in our system. They will support with reviewing investigations and give feedback on what happened. Over time, they will manage our accident database and ensure any accidents are added.
  • Learn about Display Screen Equipment Management: including completing assessments for employees that regularly use computers and display screen equipment. They will learn how to order and maintain stock so that colleagues using screens are given the right equipment to avoid injury.
  • Support our Safety Representatives: including managing the weekly safety representative “walk-rounds” across our sites, track when the walk-arounds have been completed and make sure there are enough people at all sites that are safety representatives.

What will you get?

  • You'll develop an understanding of how important Health and Safety is in an organisation and the role it plays in keeping our colleagues safe!
  • You'll develop many skills: communication (written and verbal), attention to detail, organisation, teamwork and relationship-building to name a few!

As well as this, you will have:

  • Regular meetings with your Manager.
  • Regular feedback on your work from colleagues so you can learn and adapt.
  • A buddy to support you when you join and throughout your time with us.
  • Informal catch-ups with the HR Emerging Talent Lead.
  • Training and development support from us and from the Prince's Trust, youth employability experts, to build your skills for the working world and your future!

What are we looking for?

Do you have an interest in the world of Health and Safety? Do you like to think of yourself as organised, with an eye for detail and willing to learn new things? If so, then this could be the role for you.

  • We’d love someone with a “can-do”, positive attitude that likes to work in a team and build relationships.
  • We're looking for someone that likes communicating with others (written and verbally) and is not afraid to ask questions!
  • We're not looking for any specific academic or work experience for this role. Basic computer skills and an understanding of Microsoft will be needed.
  • A full, clean driving license is essential for this role however owning a car isn't necessary.
