Data is at the heart of everything N Brown does, and the Data Science team works across the business to find ways to turn data-derived insights into positive outcomes for people shopping with us.  Our mission is to find customers who love our brands and to uncover the products and propositions which are perfect for them - so that they can look and feel amazing!

We’ve won some of the biggest retail awards for our use of AI and our projects feature in our annual financial reports recognising data as one of our key strategic pillars. We regularly showcase what we do hosting some of the largest Data Science conferences in the North-West. We build data products to make real and seismic change. And today we are looking for a passionate Data Scientist to come on a journey with us and to help us succeed.

As a Data Scientist you will:

  • Use machine learning to solve complex business problems in various domains.
  • Produce compelling data stories backed by powerful visualisations.
  • Contribute to an open, progressive and passionate data community.
  • Write and code review efficient, production-level, test-driven code.
  • Use leading technologies to tackle major strategic initiatives.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • A good understanding of ML frameworks and algorithms.
  • A good understanding of statistical methods.
  • A good understanding of Python.
  • A good understanding of SQL.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Critically, a passion to learn, collaborate, do amazing things with data science, and to help develop others in our data community.

We’ll train you on the tech but if you already know some that’s an added bonus:

  • AWS SageMaker, S3, Athena, and associated AWS services, or equivalent.
  •  working with Data Lakes and Data Warehouses.
  • Git version control.

Working at N Brown you’ll explore everything the world of digital retail has to offer by asking questions, trying new things and chasing opportunities. Combine this curiosity with the freedom to make your own choices, take charge of projects and work flexibly, and you’ve got the perfect place to showcase your skills and learn new ones.

A digital retailer will be fast-paced at times, but this just means something new and exciting is always on the way. So, if you can collaborate, think on your feet, embrace innovation and love working together for a common goal, you could have a serious impact on the business, your career and our customers’ lives.
