Who are we?

Here at N Brown, we champion inclusivity by making our customers look and feel amazing. We’re a top ten UK clothing and footwear digital retailer, with a home proposition, serving customers across our five strategic brands: JD Williams, Simply Be, Ambrose Wilson, Jacamo and Home Essentials. We don’t believe that age, size, shape or background should stop anyone from feeling confident, stylish and happy with the way they look and feel. With our industry leading expertise in creating fashion that fits, we’ve been proudly breaking down these barriers for over 160 years. We help our customers to express themselves with stylish products, helpful services and flexible finance. Now, we’re moving forward together, embracing innovation and new technology, to continue to delight our customers.

The Role and responsibilities

The Finance Procure to Pay department is responsible for the accurate and timely payment of all supplier invoices for garments, goods, and services. This includes ensuring our accounts are properly maintained and that any internal/external queries which arise are resolved in a timely manner. We’re looking for two Trainee Finance Assistants to join the team that will play a key role in helping make this happen and will be at the very heart of the team! This role is based at our headquarters in the Northern Quarter. Reporting into the Finance Manager, they will:

  • Support with general administration duties including various tasks relating to email, for example, communicating with suppliers to answer queries, categorising, sorting, and distributing emails in the wider team’s inbox, requesting statements and also scanning invoices, statements and debit notes.
  • Match invoices to stock lines across garments, goods, and services as well as process non-stock invoices for approval using our Finance systems.
  • Create Debit and Credit notes that we keep on file for storage.
  • Support with postal duties for the wider team.

What will you get?

  • You will have the opportunity to gain the Accounts Payable association entry level certification.
  • You'll develop your technical skills as you will be trained on how to use Oracle Workflow and various Microsoft software whilst also gaining an insight into how a Finance department works and the importance of strong relationships with external suppliers.
  • You'll develop many skills: communication (verbal and written), analytical skills, attention to detail, organisation, self-management and relationship-building skills.

As well as this, you will have:

  • Regular meetings with your Manager.
  • Regular feedback on your work from colleagues so you can learn and adapt.
  • A buddy to support you when you join and throughout your time with us.
  • Training and development support from us and from the Prince's Trust, youth employability experts, to build your skills for the working world and your future!

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who really want to develop their skills into a Finance related role in the future!

  • You should consider yourself to be organised, like completing tasks that require attention to detail and are always willing to learn!
  • We’d love people with “can-do” attitudes that like to work with others, communicate (verbally and written) and build relationships with people.
  • For experience and qualifications, you may have had work experience and/or academic knowledge relating to Finance, Maths or ICT.
