The Head of Commercial Finance – Digital Tech & Central Services is responsible for the Finance Business Partnering for the Digital Tech, Finance, Legal, NBG and People Divisions within N Brown. This encompasses reporting on finance performance, developing budgets and forecasts, and supporting the financial performance in those divisions. The role will influence decision making and help drive business initiatives to add value within those divisions.

You will help drive and implement our strategy as a digital retailer, this role will work closely with our Chief Operating Officer to shape and drive this strategy throughout the wider business. The role is therefore a key finance business partnering role to help influence this critical area of decision making.

You will also be responsible for managing and developing 2 Finance Analysts.

​​​​​​​Additional responsibilities include:

  • The primary responsibilities and accountabilities for the role are as follows:
  • Accountable for financial reporting and forecasting for the divisions, providing high quality financial analysis, insightful commentaries, and adding value to decision making.
  • Influence strategic and business decision making in relation to the divisions and the technology roadmap.  Identify, influence and drive business initiatives to grow the business and affect the overall strategy for the teams.
  • Support key decisions through financial insight and detailed analysis designed to drive the right decisions in the business.  Hold the business to account to deliver on targets through quality reporting and quality conversations.
  • Ensure that the business partners comply with the approved financial processes including all documentation, reports and plans, ensuring they are relevant, accurate and have a complete audit trail
  • Champion change management; driving improvements to financial accountability across the Divisions and improving and standardising financial processes to improve overall efficiency; identifying and contributing to business improvement opportunities
  • Enhance commercial understanding by ensuring that all stakeholders understand their responsibilities for the overall financial goals of their Divisions and the business. Embed commercial mind-set and governance
  • Responsible for the management and development of 2 finance analysts.
  • Working in tandem with the Head of FP&A, drive the right activities in Capex spend and Tribe activity by influencing the tech roadmap and holding the Tribes to account to deliver on their spend and delivery targets, including business casing, benefits delivery and post investment appraisals.
  • Working closely with the Head of Commercial Finance – Trading and Head of FP&A to influence Commercial finance behaviours, business interactions, and the continuous improvement of the overall finance ‘product’.
  • Specific divisional responsibilities:
  • DT division – Development resources and IT opex
  • Central services – Finance, Legal, N Brown Group
  • Capex – Tribe capex and DT resources
  • People team

  • Formal finance qualification: CIMA/ACA/ACCA
  • Experience in Financial Business Partnering / Commercial Finance, ideally with Head of or Senior Commercial Finance manager experience.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a customer first approach
  • First class commercial problem solving & analysis
  • Able to influence and negotiate across all levels, particularly executives based on an ability to think strategically and creatively for all parties
  • Confident, clear and concise communication skills and strong influencing skills
  • Highly driven and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to perform well in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Innovative and curious, willing to question the status quo and learn.
  • Strong leadership capability - motivating, growing and developing the Senior Analysts
