Thames Gateway Teaching School Hub, part of Leigh Academies Trust, has a truly exciting opportunity to appoint a Business Administrator to work at our Head Office based in Strood who will join us from May 2024. As a Teaching School Hub we oversee training and development opportunities for schools across Medway, Gravesham, Dartford and across the wider Kent area.

As Administrator, you will work with our Executive Support Officer to ensure that the hundred of teachers training with us every year are able to access the highest quality programmes. You’ll be arranging training sessions, ensuring delegates and facilitators have all they need and making sure that all our work meets the needs of our participants and their schools. Applicants should be professional, personable and committed to providing an excellent service, and above all else our appointed candidate will have a positive work ethic and can-do attitude. The Administrator position is pivotal to the smooth running of our central office and our appointed candidate will embark on an Apprenticeship course, gaining a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification during their time in post.


Apprenticeship Summary:
Annual wage:  Actual salary £11,502 per annum (FTE £13,725)
Holiday allowance: Term Time only appointment, holidays to be taken during school holidays
Working week: Monday - Thursday, 8.00am – 4.00pm / Friday, 8.00am - 3.30pm
Total hours per week: 37 (including the 20% training element of the Apprenticeship)
Apprenticeship duration: Approx.18 months
Anticipated start date: As soon as possible
Apprenticeship level: Advanced Level Apprenticeship (Level 3)
Apprenticeship standard: Business & Administration
Positions: 1 available
Desired entry qualifications: GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths, English and ICT


Essential skills:

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or Level 2 Functional Skills equivalent
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills with outstanding attention to detail
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative
  • Computer literacy in usual office applications
  • Committed and enthusiastic

Please be aware that applicants that already have a Level 3 qualification in Business Administration / an equivalent to will not be eligible for this position.


Future prospects: This apprenticeship could be the start of a very promising and career within the wider business and administration remit. We have every intention to offer a permanent contract following successful performance and completion of the Level 3 course with future opportunities to extend your training with a higher level Apprenticeship programme.
