Job Description

Leigh Academy Oaks is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to join our supportive, collaborative team. As a key member of our teaching support team, you’ll play a vital role in helping our students succeed and providing essential support to our teachers.

We are proud to be an outstanding school, and we are seeking a dedicated TA who can build strong relationships with both staff and students, contributing to a positive learning environment. You’ll support children across the primary age range, offering help to students who may need extra confidence or have additional needs, through both classroom and small group/1:1 interventions.

Our successful candidate will be:

  • Enthusiastic, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Experienced in motivating and supporting children, including working with individuals and small groups
  • Compassionate, with a strong desire to help children achieve their best and experience in working with children with additional needs or low confidence
  • Holding a Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) with previous experience in a primary school setting

Leigh Academy Oaks is a small academy with approximately 190 pupils on roll and an additional 20 pupils in our Nursery. We are very proud of our school and the hard work and positive attitude of all our pupils and staff. Teaching and learning areas are both safe and well-maintained, providing a stimulating working environment for pupils. We are continually striving to improve our facilities in order to enrich the experiences of our pupils.

The teachers and support staff form a very strong team and work closely with the Governing Body and Leigh Academies Trust to promote high standards throughout Leigh Academy Oaks. Parents provide invaluable voluntary support throughout the academy including a programme of fundraising activities throughout the year.

The academy teaches a broad and balanced curriculum which is enriched by a wide range of extra-curricular activities. It is our aim to provide a happy, safe, and caring community, where everyone is encouraged and supported to achieve their goals.

As of 1st September 2024, our Trust comprises 33 geographically organised academies (17 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating more than 24,000 students and employing 4,000 talented staff.
