At Leigh Academy Hugh Christie, our Art and Photography team is a vibrant, energetic, and supportive community where ideas flow, experimentation is encouraged, and no two days are ever the same. We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for someone who wants to immerse themselves in a hands-on creative environment and play a key role in enriching the artistic experiences of our students.

As our Art and Photography Technician, you’ll find yourself at the heart of our department—working alongside passionate teachers, supporting imaginative projects, and helping bring students’ ideas to life. From preparing materials for exciting practical lessons to experimenting with processes in our Art studios and Photography spaces, this is a role where your creativity and enthusiasm will make a real impact.

You’ll enjoy:

A creative, collaborative team – You’ll join a department known for its positive atmosphere, shared ideas, and supportive ethos.
A dynamic working day – No two days are the same; every lesson, project, and student brings something new.
Hands-on involvement in Art and Photography – A perfect opportunity to work with a wide range of materials, equipment, and techniques.
Professional development and growth – Ideal for anyone looking to build experience in the creative arts within an educational setting.
A workplace that values innovation – We love fresh ideas, curiosity, and people who enjoy trying new approaches.

In this role, you’ll help prepare resources, look after specialist equipment, support lessons when needed, and help ensure that our students have the tools and confidence to explore their creativity fully. Most importantly, you’ll be part of an academy that is committed to nurturing talent—not just in our students, but in every member of staff.

The basis of this role is fixed term, working 18.75 hours per week, Term Time + 1 week of inset and offering an actual salary of £10,620 per annum (£24,366 full-time equivalent). This role is 3 days per week.
