Job Description

We know that exceptional Maths Teachers are in high demand which is why we are offering a recruitment and retention bonus of £2,000 for the right candidate (£1,000 payable upon joining, and £1,000 payable after 1 year's service).

About the role: The Hundred of Hoo Academy has a fantastic opportunity to appoint a talented and passionate Teacher of Maths who truly wishes to inspire our pupils to realise their potential and reach their goals. Joining The Hundred of Hoo all-through academy will enable you to work with like-minded colleagues who share your goals and ambitions. Whether you are new to the teaching profession or experienced, you will contribute to leading and shaping the vision and future of our school and wider Trust.

This is a permanent, full time position and we would like the successful candidate to join us for Easter 2022, or earlier dependent on the successful candidates availability. Depending on the successful candidates experience, there is also a chance to teach KS5 for those who have experience teaching Post 16.

Maths at The Hundred of Hoo Academy: Our Key stage 3 classes are taught using an innovative Maths Mastery method. This is alongside the IB MYP in order to develop a deep and broad Mathematical understanding within our students in preparation for their GCSE studies, which commence in Year 9. We invest heavily so that staff have ongoing access to weekly high-quality professional development and a curriculum focused on developing conceptual understanding. Our curriculum is underpinned by research on task design, variation theory, concept development and raising achievement. Full training will be available to the successful candidate.

So what makes us different at The Hundred of Hoo Academy?  It is how we translate our culture, vision and values into every action every day, where you can see staff and pupils role modelling high expectations. We want our teachers to concentrate on what they do best – teach. To achieve this we have clear, consistent behaviour systems and every teacher has their own classroom. Our teachers plan the curriculum together allowing them to share expertise as well as the workload.  We also provide an array of professional development programmes for our staff including ECTs, middle and senior leader programmes.

Working with our academy: In September 2011, The Hundred of Hoo converted to Academy status and just one year later, Ofsted judged the academy as “good with outstanding features”, recognising the relentless focus and ambition that we have.  In September 2015 the academy welcomed its first Reception class thereby extending its age range to 4-year-old children. This exciting provision demonstrates the Academy’s sense of ambition to serve the community where pupils’ academic journey represents a cradle to university principle.

We are delighted to announce that following a recent Ofsted inspection in July 2018 the academy has been judged 'Good' with 'Outstanding' features in terms of our Early Years provision and effectiveness of Leadership and Management.
