About the role: Longfield Academy has a rare and exciting opportunity to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our highly collaborative and supportive team. ​​​​​​​Our successful candidate will support curriculum delivery across the Academy through working collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants and mentors. As a member of the Inclusion Team, the HLTA will have responsibility for leading and developing a team of teaching assistants and mentors. 

The HLTA will be able to encourage pupils to become independent learners, whilst providing appropriate support for pupils with special educational needs. This role would suit an experienced teaching assistant seeking the next step in their career and we would particularly welcome applications from those with considerable experience of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Experience working with EAL students would be desirable.​​​​​​​

We are looking for someone who:​​​​​​​

  • Is able to demonstrate levels of numeracy and literacy to GSCE [A-C]
  • Holds other relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g. A Levels, NVQ, Diploma)
  • Experience working with pupils in school for a minimum of 2 years
  • Experience working with children who have special educational needs and disabilities
  • Experience teaching individuals and small groups

This is a permanent opportunity offering an annual salary of £13,807 - £16,109 (£19,799 full time equivalent), based on 30-35 hours per week, Term Time + 1 week. Please be aware that we can offer 30-35 hours per week, so please state on your application your preference.
