About the role: ​​​​​​​Due to expansion, Mascalls Academy are looking for a Design and Technology Technician to join the academy and to support the teaching and learning of students within this broad department. Our successful candidate will be creative and enthusiastic, and, it’s an ideal role for current Post 16 students or recent school leavers who would like first-hand experience in a paid position within the D&T remit.

Our successful applicant will hold an A Level or equivalent qualification in one or more Design and Technology-related subjects. You'll be an effective communicator and be able to use your initiative. A flexible ‘can do’ attitude is also essential, as is the ability to provide the very best levels of service to all employees and stakeholders in the faculty. Our successful candidate will be committed to helping students achieve to the best of their ability. You will be able to adapt to changing circumstances and embrace new ideas.

The role of Design and Technology Technician includes the following:

  • Ensuring learning activities are prepared for, by assisting and teaching staff on the preparation and resourcing of lessons, the set up of classrooms for practical exercises, and trialling activities;
  • Preparing equipment and materials for lessons in line with the specification of teacher requisitions;
  • Assisting in practical lessons and after hours activities when requested.
