About the role: The Hundred of Hoo Academy has a truly exciting opportunity for a talented and passionate Teacher of Food and Nutrition to join their thriving department from Easter 2023. Our successful candidate will be dedicated in the delivery of high quality teaching with the aim of helping students develop a broad base of skills through practical, investigational and theoretical work, across all levels and abilities.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Develop, maintain and stimulate pupils’ curiosity, interest and enjoyment in Food and Nutrition
- Develop pupils’ familiarity, competence and confidence within Food and Nutrition
- Provide challenge for every pupil and encourage all pupils to achieve their potential in Food and Nutrition
- Contribute and engage in extra-curricular Food and Nutrition activities
- Share in departmental best practice
- Have a willingness to invest extra time outside of a lesson to ensure students achieve the best standard in Food and Nutrition at both Key Stage 3 and 4
Our appointed candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and communicate this in an enthusiastic and imaginative way in both practical and theory lessons. The role is a permanent, full-time or part-time opportunity offering MPS/UPS commensurate with experience.

The academy is divided into three colleges – Athena, Forseti and Neptune each having their own personality and range of specialisms, allowing them to be unique.
The Hundred of Hoo Academy is a high achieving institution. Our last Ofsted inspection notes “Leaders’ clear determination and unwaveringly high expectations ensure a culture of continual improvement.”, that Hundred of Hoo’s “well-established learning routines support teachers’ high expectations for pupils’ conduct and engagement with their learning”. We were graded a ‘Good’ school with ‘Outstanding’ leadership and behaviour and it is our vision to become ‘Outstanding’ in every category.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2022, our Trust comprises 30 geographically organised academies (14 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing 3,000 talented staff.
