What is involved?
The Prime Minister announced in September that the Government would create a new register of Environmental Health Practitioners, which would enable councils to access the skills and experience they need in the continued fight against COVID-19.
The register will be hosted by the Local Government Association (LGA), professionally quality-assured by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and is backed by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) and NHS Test and Trace.
It will provide a central place for local authorities to recruit professionals most needed to carry out work during the pandemic.
When discussing opportunities with candidates, we recommend that you complete your usual recruitment process and assess the suitability of candidates for completing safe – it will be the responsibility of a local authority to ensure that candidates meet the required standard for practice.
Who can register?
You can register if you are a local authority.
If you have any technical queries related to the website, please contact the LGA.
