About us
The Local Government Association speaks with one voice on behalf of local government in England and Wales. Made up of elected representatives from all the different political parties, we aim to set the political agenda and have our say in the national media on the issues that matter to council members. There has never been a more exciting time to work for us.

The role
Having recently reviewed our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion, the LGA is now embarking on an ambitious strategy and action plan (which is currently in consultation with staff) that involves dedicated focus to our internal work in this area. We are ambitious in our plans to become an organisation which truly embraces difference, embedding equality, diversity and inclusion into our core values, policies and practices and the HR Officer (EDI) will support activity to really embed change across the organisation.

The work is broad and diverse and will see you working on multiple activities alongside the HR & OD Adviser as well as our HR and Payroll Manager, Head of Improvement and others in the team, to deliver the objectives of the LGA in relation to equality, diversity and inclusion.

The requirements
You will have a strong understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, ideally gained from your previous work as part of a HR team. You will be experienced in co-ordinating and supporting multiple projects, analysing problems and developing solutions, all with an EDI focus.

As a small team, there is occasionally a need for team members to get involved in other activity that is not part of their main role. Therefore, some experience of supporting employee relations case work is also a requirement of this role.

Experience of Local Government is not essential, but it would be beneficial, and we are interested in hearing from people who have worked across a variety of sectors.

Although this role is full-time, we will consider applicants interested in working part-time/ flexible working, please reference this in your application.

You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.

For an informal conversation, please contact Minal Kotadia, HR & OD Adviser, on Minal.Kotadia@local.gov.uk.

Closing date:         5pm, 27 January 2021
Interviews:             9 February 2021

As a Disability Confident Leader, the LGA values diversity and encourages applications from all sections of the community
