There has never been a more exciting time to work for us.

The role

This newly created role offers the opportunity to work as part of the pensions team at the LGA. The pension team works with and on behalf of the administering authorities of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) in England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

You will maintain a range of dedicated websites across the pensions service, including designing new pages, adapting functionality and on-screen calculations, and managing website redesigns. You will drive site reliability, ensuring all sites remain secure, functional and comply with all relevant legislative requirements. You will drive for technical excellence.
You will work collaboratively with the pension team to ensure the service meets its objectives effectively to new and changing requirements.

As we encourage flexible working at the LGA, for this role you have the choice to work as a home-based worker from £21,410 per annum or office-based up to £26,380 per annum (including London Weighting). The office-based working will be in line with our transitional flexible working policy as we begin to go back into the office again following COVID-19.

The requirements

It is essential that you have knowledge and experience of developing accessible websites (to WCAG 2.1 AA standard) including the latest CSS, HTML, JavaScript and PHP. You will also have knowledge of using CMS, ideally including Joomla. You will be a practitioner of clean code.

Experience in integrating and supporting sites with SQL databases and working with third party hosting providers is also essential. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who works efficiently as part of a team.

You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.
