Ref: BMS00383 - Joint Assistant Director - Communities and Wellbeing

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are at the forefront of joint working and are a progressive award-winning partnership - two sovereign councils, each with a strong sense of identity but with a shared vision of the future. We have integrated our two councils' workforces and are one of the first Districts nationally to move to a joint headquarters - creating a public sector hub with our Clinical Commissioning Group and Suffolk County Council colleagues. We are active founding partners of both Suffolk Alliances, bringing together commissioners and providers to improve shared health, well-being, social and economic outcomes for our communities with a single vision and shared delivery plans.

To fully realise our aspirations, as two Councils and two Clinical Commissioning Groups, we are now taking our collaboration to the next level by recruiting our first shared Local Government and Health senior leader for the Babergh & Mid Suffolk area.

You will be an inspirational, transformational, strategic system-leader, with a proven track record of delivering performance improvement and excellent outcomes. You will be a very successful collaborator, who models and embeds a culture of collaboration and is a leader of people and place. You will constantly want to develop yourself and others. You will take an evidence-based and asset-based approach, empowering local communities by 'doing with rather than doing to'. Working closely with councillors and senior colleagues in the Councils, the CCGs and the Alliances, your ability to negotiate, influence and advocate across and beyond these organisations will be key to success in this role. Finally, you will have energy, tenacity and political sensitivity and will be able to embrace the values of the Alliances and the District Councils.

We offer a generous relocation package and flexible working patterns, supported by a combination of office-based and remote working. There is a pay review pending.
