The role

The LGA is looking to recruit a Member Services Manager to provide comprehensive support to the LGA’s political governance arrangements and to lead the Member Services team. The role is based at the LGA’s headquarters in Westminster, where most formal meetings take place and offers a great deal of scope for professional development. The LGA has a flexible working policy.

The requirements

You will have a proven track record of managing formal committee meetings in a local authority or similar organisation; the ability to interpret and apply legislation; awareness of and an interest in current affairs; high-level communication and writing skills; excellent organisational skills; the ability to consistently meet demanding deadlines in a pressurised environment; and the ability to work effectively in a complex, political and high-profile organisation.

Experience of line management in a local authority democratic services team would be advantageous. You must also be able to manage the interface between senior officers and elected representatives with tact and diplomacy and have a firm grasp of the use and application of IT systems, ideally including committee management software.

You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.
