The LGA’s Workforce team works with councils and their partners to help create a workforce able to respond to major changes within the public sector. The team provides improvement support to councils by providing national advice and guidance as well as delivers specific HR improvement solutions through grant funded programmes or on a commercial basis.

The role

The purpose of this Workforce Advisor role is to project manage a grant funded programme of support to councils to provide T Level Industry Placements. The programme is funded by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. The role will work to a programme board and be supported by a Senior Advisor. The main job activities will be to provide advice and guidance to councils to enable them to deliver T level Industry Placements. The advisor will liaise with T level learning providers acting as a broker to promote Industry placements. The advisor will produce on-line advice and guidance, tool kits, web resources and promotional material to be used by councils working with the LGA, Department for Education and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. 

The requirements

The post holder would need to demonstrate experience of working with learning providers, councils and young people on employment and skills programmes. Excellent project management skills are required as well as the ability to communicate to senior leaders and learners. Experience in learning development or recruitment is desirable as the role requires an understanding of HR practice in providing work experience/placements e.g. apprenticeship delivery
