Background to the Role

Local Partnership’s Climate team provide support across England and Wales to local authorities and other public sector organisations to accelerate the scale and pace of the delivery of climate response and energy programmes and projects. 

As we continue to develop and increase the support to the public sector, we are seeking to increase our capacity and there is a need to recruit an Assistant Director to the team.

Working as part of the Climate team, the successful candidate will bring their professional expertise and project management skills to assist with the delivery of a variety of climate related programmes and projects.  Knowledge transfer of complex written and analytical information to the client is a key part of the role, and excellent communication skills are vital.

About the role

Assistant Directors are responsible for supporting the successful delivery of activity within specific teams for Local Partnerships, ensuring that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. Likely to hold sector specific knowledge at a detailed level and be able to apply that knowledge to a variety of scenarios.  Full details are contained within the job description.

Assistant Directors may be based anywhere in the UK. They will need to travel to clients’ offices across England and Wales.

We would encourage applications from candidates with transferable skills which may not be specific to the below but are looking to develop within the sector:

  • Experience and expertise in the delivery of Resource Efficiency and Waste programmes and projects, including understanding of the waste treatment and collection sectors, provider positions (in-house or outsourced)
  • provider positions (in-house or outsourced)
  • An understanding of relevant sector specific legislation and guidance
  • Knowledge of waste treatment infrastructure in particular energy from waste, mechanical
  • biological treatment, material recovery and anaerobic digestion
  • Experience of working with waste flow and process flow models
  • Knowledge of financial modelling would be advantageous, but not essential
