About the role
Our Apprenticeship scheme provides a perfect way to earn a wage while you gain vital work experience and a nationally recognised Payroll qualification. You will be fully supported and mentored through your apprenticeship and be given protected time to complete your course work. The scheme is designed for individuals who are living and entitled to work in England and are not in full-time education.
The role will require you to provide administrative support to the HR and Payroll team to achieve the LGA’s priorities and objectives. You will support the team in delivering in a flexible and resourceful approach with enthusiasm to participate in LGA and Payroll related projects to deliver on the Business Plan.
As you develop within this apprenticeship, you will understand how to process payroll changes, liasing with line managers and making relevant changes in employee records. You will be able to carry out basic financial administration tasks including raising and managing orders and invoices and handling financial related queries. You will also assist with the monthly processing of the payroll for LGA and its associated organisations.
About you
The successful candidate will have the ability to learn office systems and procedures and have experience in a range of software packages. This will include the production of documents and collation and maintenance of information.
We are looking for someone who has good written and oral communication skills and a basic understanding of numerical acumen. You will be able to adapt to changing work requirements, manage your own workload, multi-task and have excellent inter-personal, face-to-face and telephone skills while maintaining a courteous and patient manner demonstrating a high level of customer care. You will also have the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality and demonstrate a keenness to learn.
You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.
