About us:

The Local Government Association speaks with one voice on behalf of local government in England and Wales. Made up of elected representatives from all the different political parties, we aim to set the political agenda and have our say in the national media on the issues that matter to councils. There has never been a more exciting time to work for us. We are seeking a highly motivated Public Affairs and Campaigns Adviser to promote local government and the LGA to our national politicians and key stakeholders.

About the job:

Key duties will include writing briefings, lobbying parliamentarians on legislation, engaging with parliamentary inquiries and organising political events. You will also be expected to play an important role in our campaigns and provide public affairs advice to the LGA on a range of policy issues.

About you:

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate experience of having worked in a fast moving political, parliamentary, and / or public affairs environment, managing a diverse workload and completing projects on tight deadlines. A strong and practical understanding of parliamentary procedure is essential. You will need outstanding communication skills and be highly organised. You will need to be an enthusiastic team player and to be able to develop good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
