LGA represents 415 local authorities in England and Wales.  Our policy work helped create the political narrative for devolution in England and set the national agenda on social care.  After the General Election, our political leaders will be reviewing our policy and lobbying work as a new political landscape takes shape.

We are looking for an inspirational individual, to cover maternity leave, who will lead the officer support to three of our member-led Boards and our devolution support programme for councils and Mayors.

This role provides you with a chance to raise your profile on a national stage. You’ll be leading the LGA’s support to three member-led Boards and ensuring that our policy teams are our providing our leading politicians with excellent advice. Your immediate focus will be future devolution in cities and non-metropolitan areas, our improvement support to councils and combined authorities with devo deals and our work programme on culture, tourism and sport.

The person we offer this post to will be an excellent leader who can work in a complex and fast-paced environment.

The LGA is currently based in Layden House, Farringdon (zone 1), but will be moving back to  Local Government House in Smith Square once refurbishment is complete in Autumn 2017.
