The Local Government Association (LGA) is seeking to recruit a talented and dynamic professional to lead and shape a collaborative approach to the implementation of Transforming Care and systems reform to improve the lives of people with a learning disability and/or autism. The role is home-based but will link to the relevant NHS regional office and ADASS branch office, and involve travel to attend meetings.

The successful applicant will work on behalf of the LGA to support local implementation of Transforming Care and the transformation of care, support and housing services to improve the outcomes and experiences of people and their families; the role will be pivotal in working with councils and partners to fully realise this ambition.

The LGA is aiming to enhance its support offer to councils and partners with a particular focus on the development of high quality and person-centred care and support, and housing with support. We are therefore looking for someone with senior level experience of working in supported housing delivery or commissioning environment, with a good knowledge of the development process for supported and specialist housing and relevant policy, procedures and practice. Applicants will need to be able to take a strategic overview of local housing needs and solutions, and support Transforming Care Partnerships in the development of opportunities for developing, purchasing or remodelling accommodation to meet local need.

The post holder will be committed to implementing “Building the right support” ensuring that the housing and support options developed maximise choice and control for individuals.
 
The successful candidate will need to be very skilled at building and maintaining strategic relationships, including those within Transforming Care Partnerships, politicians and creating innovative solutions to complex issues.
