The role and requirements

We are looking for a strong & experienced payroll support officer who is able to work on their own initiative. You will need to understand end to end payroll process and have strong systems knowledge, preferably Agresso. We are a small team and require someone who is able to communicate confidently, be an active team member and be willing to get involved in a variety of activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day payroll processes including, but not limited to, processing the monthly payrolls including calculating payments for starters, leavers and changes, calculating statutory payments including Tax, National insurance Contributions, maternity pay and shared parental leave. You will also assist with month-end processes including RTI submissions and third party reconciliations and be responsible for weekly expenses processing 

You will be focused on the detail, well organised and committed to providing a timely and efficient response as well as continuously looking for ways of improving systems and processes, therefore someone with a can do attitude is essential.    

The LGA has a combined HR and Payroll team who work hard to ensure the best outcomes for staff. The team work flexibly and we would expect this post-holder to be able to work from home at least one day per week once settled into the role. We offer a great working environment with annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days rising to 32 days after 5 years’ service (plus bank holidays).

The LGA is currently based in Layden House, Farringdon (zone 1), but will be moving back to 18 Smith Square, Westminster once refurbishment is complete in autumn 2017.
