Location: Home based – national role and will involve travel on a weekly basis
Fixed term opportunity until 31 March 2018
Passionate about developing people? Want to be at the heart of a new agenda that could transform the way councils build the workforce of the future? Want to help shape policy and practice across the sector by leading a flagship national programme of support? Understand what it means to work for and in local government? Then this unique opportunity could be for you! As part of the LGA’s drive to support councils we are looking for an enthusiastic self-driven individual who knows what it takes to turn a challenge into a great opportunity.
The governments new apprenticeship policy means councils are investing over £200m per year in apprenticeship training via the new apprenticeship levy. Added to which there is an aspiration that the sector needs to contribute to the government’s target of 3m apprenticeship starts by 2020 – a LG target is set at 33,000 pa.
This new advisor role will provide support and expertise to the delivery of our national apprenticeship programme. The programme aims to help councils maximise their apprenticeship levy spending by providing much needed capacity to work with the new policy and help councils understand the changes to apprenticeship funding and share practice. The job offers great role autonomy, flexible working and a chance to work with a whole range of partners to deliver this challenging agenda.
