One year fixed term or secondment opportunity
The Local Government Association (LGA) is looking to recruit three experienced Environmental Health Officers to work in the Joint Inspection Team (JIT).
This new national team is being established by the LGA and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, with the help of the National Fire Chiefs Council, to support local authorities and give them confidence to pursue enforcement action against building owners of residential high-rise buildings with unsafe aluminium composite (ACM) cladding.
You will advise local authorities in using the Housing Act 2004 to assess the hazard risk of ACM cladding in high-rise residential buildings and in taking enforcement action against building owners who are slow to remediate. You will have experience in court enforcement action is essential. The team will be based in London, but you will be required to travel across the country to advise local authorities, where necessary working on site alongside local authority staff.
