This role is being offered as a part-time role which will be up to 17.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE).
We are offering this role as a secondment or fixed term opportunity.
We are recruiting a Legal Adviser to work with our fire safety JIT team, to advise local authorities across England on use of Housing Act 2004 to remediate unsafe ACM cladding on high rise residential buildings. The work will include advising on enforcement, and legal action to make buildings safe.
This is a really good opportunity for an able lawyer with experience of Housing Act 2004 enforcement, to support the team in its work to help remediate unsafe cladding from tower blocks. The work is high profile, and will be pioneering, given that using HHSRS to enforce on high rise cladding has only arisen since the Grenfell tragedy.
The successful candidate should have local authority experience and have a sound knowledge of the role and remit of local government, and how it relates to central government. The post is half a week, and the post holder can remain in their current office for most of the week. There will be meetings and training at the LGA, but much of the work can be carried out at home or in another building.
You will need to demonstrate political sensitivity and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels verbally and in writing. The ability to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team is an essential requirement of this role.
Closing Date: 5pm, 18 March 2019
Interview Date: 27 March 2019
