About the role

Surrey County Council is undergoing a period of significant change. In the context of shifting resident demands, the increasing need to deliver value for money and our ambition to be a leading council we need to rethink and reassess how we provide services to ensure a more cost effective organisation that focuses on the best possible outcomes for the people of Surrey.

In order to achieve this we have embarked upon a massive transformation programme which consists of a number of key projects that are critical to the future success and financial stability of the council.

The Insight, Analytics and Intelligence team is at the heart of the council, leading thinking on strategy, policy, insight and, with other teams, service design, to support the council's and residents' ambitions. The team reaches out into communities through strategic and locality-based partnerships with organisations and residents, building productive relationships and driving behavioural change,

Business intelligence, customer insight and performance data are central to enabling evidence based decisions and better understanding of the future needs of residents and service users.

The role of Insight Lead will play a key part in defining, promoting and embedding the council's approach to business insight, providing guidance to senior leaders and heads of service on the interpretation of business intelligence in order to improve customer focused service delivery and enhance outcomes for residents.

Promoting the use of business insight across the council, you will enable the council to assess future needs and plan resources and services accordingly and evaluate the impact of projects and services to help us track our progress towards achieving the ambitions in the Community Vision for Surrey in 2030.

We are therefore looking for someone who is organised, analytical, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, established negotiation, influencing and motivational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders.

Alongside the specific role person requirements we are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven problem solving skills with the capacity to devise and implement innovative solutions
  • Can evidence a successful track record of managing a wide range of complex projects
  • Has experience of developing and using operational data and business insight to improve customer experience and the performance of complex organisations

If this sounds like you, and if you're enthused by the idea of assisting us on this journey, then please apply by uploading your CV and covering letter outlining your suitability with evidence for this role.
