The role
This is a chance to lead a dynamic team on a number of high-profile programmes of work that aim to improve adult social care and public health. The post holder will lead and develop our existing programmes of work including:

  • Digital Social Care projects such as the Social Care Digital Innovation Programme and Social Care Data and Cyber Security Programme 
  • Public Health related programmes such as the Childhood Obesity Trailblazer Programme  and a forthcoming grant programme with The Health Foundation on the wider determinants of health

The requirements
We are looking for a leader with significant experience of developing and implementing change programmes in the public sector. In this role you will work with councils and local areas around the country.

We are committed to taking a design-led approach across all our improvement programmes and you will come with knowledge and expertise in this area and you will be able to take others on this journey with you. Using your insights, you should be able to identify the support required to drive local innovation and improvement.

The post holder should be passionate about the difference that councils and wider partnerships can make to social care and public health. Leadership experience and knowledge of working in the public sector is essential, and an understanding of social care and/or public health would be preferable. You should also understand the role that digital and technology has in supporting prevention, health and care. 

You will be an excellent communicator, confident at presenting the impact of local projects on the national stage. You will also have strong experience of taking evidence-based approaches to be able to demonstrate the impact of the programmes that you run.

Experience of using digital platforms is essential, with knowledge of how these platforms could be used to increase engagement and share best practice both with councils on the programme and the broader Local Government sector. Ability to influence at all levels, tact, diplomacy and tenacity as well as knowledge of what makes impactful communications is desirable.
