Fixed term contract – initially 12 months (contract length will be subject to extension dependent on the sign off of the Apprentice Standard by the government, once the standard has been agreed the contract will run in conjunction with undertaking study towards achievement of an Apprenticeship standard: Business Administration Support Level 3). 

The role and requirements
Are you looking to start your Business Administration career in a progressive, changing organisation? We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in politics who is committed to and wants to make a real contribution to the team and deliver an efficient and effective service. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the day to day administration of the LGA’s governance structure and the Member Services team, including support of our elected members. The on job training will provide all-round experience of every administrative task required in a busy office environment so there will also be diary management, meeting administration and minute-taking. 

You will be focused on the detail, well organised and committed to providing a timely and efficient response as well as continuously looking for ways of improving systems and processes, therefore someone with a can do attitude is essential.
