About us
18 Smith Square Conference Centre is a commercial conferencing operation in London SW1 and part of the Local Government Association. Our refurbished meeting and event spaces are complemented by state-of-the-art AV and full in-house catering. It’s the perfect venue for business meetings and full day conferences.

The role
Working closely with the Venue and Customer Support Manager, you will plan, coordinate and manage day-to-day operations. The role involves the supervision of events, reception and catering services and overseeing audio visual provision. Importantly, there will also be evening and weekend events to host, so flexibility in terms of working hours is crucial (working to a 35 hour week with flexibility around evenings and weekends).

We will look to you as part of the venue team to ensure members, customers and visitors have a positive experience. So relationship-building will be key – with our customer base both internally and externally. Helping to develop effective marketing and communications for the venue is key, as well as ensuring our integrated booking service continues to meet users’ needs.

Working alongside the venue manager you will help grow the business, and contribute to our marketing and business planning.

About you
Having already worked in a venue or customer services role, you will be comfortable organising meetings and events, know your way around audio-visual and office systems, and be a passionate champion of excellent customer care.

Given the nature of our organisation, it’s important that you are a great negotiator and influencer; able to exercise judgement and discretion when dealing with our membership and demonstrate political neutrality at all times.

Essential qualities required include excellent IT and communication skills, and the ability to manage a complex workload with lots of competing deadlines.
