The role
An exciting, high profile opportunity for a talented, motivated professional to make a real national strategic difference for adult safeguarding practice and the ongoing development of Making Safeguarding Personal.

It is important that your application demonstrates your ability in all the following areas.

The Local Government Association (LGA) is seeking to recruit a committed, experienced and highly motivated  professional to support the Care and Health Improvement Adviser leading on Safeguarding Adults, supporting improvements in adult safeguarding practice through making safeguarding personal. The role responds to current and evolving challenges, including those outlined in Safeguarding Adult Reviews.

The role supports embedding the Care Act (2014), promoting and developing good adult safeguarding practice. It supports councils and partners across all sectors to adopt a person centred and outcome focused approach to adult safeguarding. An important aspect of the role is engaging with and learning from front line professionals across all sectors, valuing their contributions and enabling councils and partners to share learning in order to improve adult safeguarding practice. This is significant in achieving effective support and shared ownership of key areas of work.

This post is advertised at a challenging time during the Covid-19 pandemic. This context impacts on and underlines the need for effective safeguarding of adults.

The requirements
•    Experience of adult safeguarding practice and leadership particularly Making Safeguarding Personal;
•    Knowledge of adult safeguarding and relevant legislation;
•    An ability to inspire confidence at all levels and support improvement and change across complex systems;
•    Ability to set up and run workstreams to deliver the programme, commission specialist support and develop products and resources to support sector led improvement in safeguarding adults.

The successful candidate will need to be skilled at working with people from a broad range of sectors to deliver improvement in challenging times.

The role can be either office based or home-based (if living outside of greater London) and will involve some national travel to attend meetings/events. There is also an expectation that the person recruited will run regional as well as national workshops to develop and embed key areas of work.
