As a Shared Lives Officer, you will be at the heart of this, creating compatible and lasting matches between Shared Lives carers and people drawing on our support, and ensuring everyone involved feels valued, supported, and truly at home.

About the Role

As a Shared Lives Officer, you’ll manage a caseload of Shared Lives carers and the people who draw on our support, ensuring personalised, safe and effective care within family homes. You will:

Support people who draw on our service by:

  • Getting to know people well, building strong, respectful relationships through home visits and regular check-ins
  • Creating great matches between people and carers
  • Planning support together, reviewing support plans and risk assessments to ensure support is genuinely person-centred
  • Navigating the practicalities, supporting benefits applications and making sense of essential paperwork
  • Speaking up for people, advocating for people during reviews and case conferences to make sure everyone’s voice is heard
  • Collaborating with professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes

Support Shared Lives carers by:

  • Helping carers feel confident and connected, offering a steady presence and trusted sounding board through regular mentoring and supervision
  • Delivering a warm welcome, leading inductions and promoting ongoing learning and development
  • Bringing people together at carer support meetings, creating opportunities to share experiences
  • Planning for the unexpected, supporting carers with breaks, emergencies, and anything else life may throw their way
  • Using your expertise to navigate policies and regulatory requirements, ensuring confidence and compliance in all areas

Ensure service compliance and quality by:

  • Keeping accurate, up-to-date records including MAR sheets, support plans, and risk assessments
  • Conducting regular medication and finance audits
  • Responding quickly and thoughtfully to safeguarding concerns, prioritising the wellbeing of those involved
  • Contributing to CQC inspections and professional reviews, maintaining high standards of support
  • Working in partnership with our Compliance, Health, PBS and Best Practice teams

Contribute to service sustainability by:

  • Supporting the growth and development of the Shared Lives scheme
  • Ensuring cost-effective delivery, through strategic planning of leave and resource allocation
  • Championing the success of Shared Lives arrangements with pride to secure long-term outcomes for all involved

About You

We’re looking for someone who shares our values and has:

  • A current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A creative, flexible and solution-focused mind-set
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • A commitment to the values and vision of MacIntyre

This is a unique opportunity to support people to live full, connected lives in loving family homes, while also ensuring our carers feel equipped, supported and appreciated. If you’re keen to be part of something bigger and build genuine, lasting connections, we would love to hear from you.
