Programme Coordinator
Job Description
Help young people build gloriously ordinary lives
Contract: Full-time, 52 weeks per year
Hours: 38 hours per week
Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Some of the most important learning happens far from a classroom desk. If you believe that, and you care about helping young people with additional needs grow in confidence, skills and independence, this could be the role for you.
Do you have SEN experience, and the drive to lead and inspire a team? Whether you hold a Level 3 qualification and want to work towards Level 4 with MacIntyre’s support, or you already have a Level 5, we’d love to hear from you.
At MacIntyre, we believe everyone deserves a gloriously ordinary life, full of choice, purpose, relationships and opportunities that matter. We offer personalised education to young people with learning disabilities and/or social, emotional and mental health needs. Learning happens wherever it makes the most sense: at home, in the community, at college, in the workplace and beyond.
About the role
You’ll lead and support a team of Community Teaching Assistants, helping them deliver creative, person-centred education that prepares young people for adult life.
Alongside learners, families and professionals, you’ll shape learning programmes built around each young person’s strengths, interests and EHCP outcomes. Whether it’s catching a bus, shopping independently, volunteering or trying something completely new, you’ll help young people grow in confidence, communication, independence and connection to their community.
As a leader, you’ll:
- Coach, mentor and develop your team through guidance, training and regular feedback.
- Observe practice, share ideas and nurture a culture of continuous improvement.
- Track learner progress, making sure learning is well planned, evidenced and celebrated.
- Work hand in hand with families and professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes.
You’ll also spend one day a week (or the equivalent) working directly with learners, modelling creative approaches and staying close to everyday practice.
If you’re ready to inspire a team and help young people build fulfilling lives on their own terms, we’d love to hear from you.
