Support Worker - Learning Disabilities
Ampthill

Job reference: 001690

Location: Ampthill

Closing date: 31/03/2022

Salary: £9.50 per hour

Employment type: Full-time or part-time

Could you share your interests and hobbies with people who have learning disabilities, helping them to learn new skills? No experience needed - we provide free, full training.

You can choose whether you want to be a full-time or part-time Support Worker and at interview we can discuss how many hours you are ideally looking to work.

Outline

The roles are based in our Lifelong Learning service in Ampthill and surrounding village halls in Bedfordshire, so you will need to be happy to work in multiple locations. Due to this, you'll also need to be a driver with your own transport.

This is a varied role in which you will support people to attend both the daytime learning centre and provide one-to-one support out in the community. We currently work with 54 adults who have different learning disabilities requiring varying levels of support. Activities take place in the daytime, evenings, weekends and bank holidays, so you would be working relevant shifts on a rota basis.

You will be working in people's homes, supporting them in a person centred way either in groups or on a 1-1 basis. Daily activities can be varied as well as the shifts. You will join in with people's favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them lead active and healthy lives in their local community. You will also support them to learn domestic and life skills such as looking after their homes, caring for their health, and being aware of their financial responsibilities.

About you

Experience isn’t necessary. If you have the right attitude, good customer service skills, share our values and are willing to learn, you’re likely to be a great fit. We are looking for people who celebrate differences, and we strive to make all our staff feel included, valued and respected. That said, of course we welcome people with previous experience as a care assistant or similar.

You must be a driver with your own transport insured for business use, willing and able to travel across the area. Reasonable mileage is reimbursed.
