Salary: £8.72 per hour
Employment type: Full-time
Are you looking for a chance to earn some extra money in your spare time working flexible hours? Or perhaps you're interested in seeing if a career as a Support Worker is right for you.
Join us as a Relief (Bank) Support Worker covering shifts at our service in Wigan where we support Andrew* a man in his mid-forties who has a learning disability.
You'll be part of the team supporting Andrew to live as independently as possible, learning new life skills and widening his social circle. You'll also help him (with training from us) to manage his behaviour, which can involve verbal aggression.
Andrew's ultimate aim is to live independently and have a job, and that's what our team is helping him towards.
*Not his real name
How Relief hours work
The Relief (Bank) post supports the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave, training and other staff absences. As such, hours are non-specific but your manager will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible.
We normally plan the rotas one month in advance, but additional opportunities also come up due to unexpected staff absences.
Although you'll be working primarily at Andrew's service, there will be additional opportunities at other local services, which we'll keep you informed about.
You don't need experience as we provide a full induction and free training programme. What's important is that you share our values, have a positive approach and are willing to learn.
Ideally, you'll be a driver with a manual licence, but this isn't essential. As a member of our Relief team, all new permanent opportunities for employment would be open to you.
