Senior Support Worker Learning Disabilities
Milton Keynes

Job reference: 000706

Location: Milton Keynes

Closing date: 24/03/2021

Salary: £18,770

Employment type: Full-time

Are you ready for the next step in your social care career? Could you mentor a team whilst supporting people with learning disabilities?

We love what we do and are recognised as an award winning charity for our passion and dedication. Due to growth, we are now expanding our services in Milton Keynes.

This is your opportunity to get in at the beginning and help us establish a new registered care provision from scratch.

Outline

As a Senior, you’ll develop rotas and deputise for the Frontline Manager. You will work closely with the staff team, ensuring people’s support plans are followed. You'll encourage the team and meet development needs, whether that's by way of formal training or day-to-day coaching and reflection. You and your team will be supporting Mark* a young man with autism and complex needs, as he leaves specialist residential education and moves into his new home in Milton Keynes.

This is a great opportunity to join us from the start! You will get to know Mark and be able to support him as he settles into his new home in Milton Keynes. It may be a scary as well as exciting time for Mark so it's important for him to become familiar with you and the team so you're able to provide the best emotional reassurance possible while he transitions.

A little more about Mark: He is 18 years old, and has a wide variety of interests. He loves watching movies, playing on his X-box and listening to music but also enjoys being in the great outdoors, so you'll need to have lots of energy to keep up with him! Mark is also into his sport: particularly Formula 1 and football, he is an avid Chelsea FC supporter, so if you're a racing fanatic or a fellow football fan, you'll get on fine!

Mark needs staff who are patient, who won't rush him and who understand his anxieties. He will need a lot of reassurance, especially as this move will be a huge change in his life. It will be a collaborative process for everyone, getting to know each other and sharing enthusiasms, interests and fun.
