Independent Mental Health Advocate (Ref: TV70)

30 hours per week

£23,354 per annum, pro rata

Based: Sunderland



As an IMHA you will have a commitment and passion for ensuring the rights of people subject to the Mental Health Act are upheld and that they are safeguarded from all forms of abuse. You will have an excellent understanding of independent advocacy, and have the skills, knowledge and ability to work to the Advocacy Code of Practice.

You will have a proven understanding and working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and associated legislative frameworks and be able to demonstrate excellent knowledge and understanding of the IMHA role. You will have achieved the Independent Advocacy Qualification inclusive of the IMHA module, or be willing to achieve this within a twelve month period.

You will have the skills, knowledge and experience to work with people who have mental ill health, dementia, and learning disabilities.

Duties for this post will include career progression of providing advocacy as an Independent Mental Capacity Advocate and of undertaking duties in the role of Paid Relevant Person Representative.
