£22,128 - £28,746 per annum NHS AFC Band 5 - (12 month Fixed Term Contract)

37.5 Hours per week. A willingness to work one evening a week is required.

Based: Newcastle under Lyme / Leek, Staffordshire

An opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner with the North Staffordshire Wellbeing Service (IAPT). We are seeking individuals who have gained the IAPT Post-Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Interventions and have (preferably) worked in the field of mental health. You must be able to demonstrate high levels of written and verbal communication; be computer literate and be able to demonstrate good therapeutic relationships with people. Newly qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Should we fail to receive sufficient applications from qualified PWPs, we will consider unqualified applicants for a Band 4 Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner post (£19,968 - £22,683 per annum NHS AFC Band 4 – 12 month Fixed Term Contract). Such applicants will be given in-house clinical training, and supported to apply for the PG Cert Course in Low Intensity Interventions at Birmingham University. Unqualified candidates will need a degree in Psychology or a related subject, and experience in mental health. A good knowledge and understanding of the IAPT programme for Common Mental Health Disorders, particularly the PWP role within stepped-care, will be essential.

The post-holder will receive high quality supervision and support in delivering a range of low-intensity psychological treatments for anxiety disorders and depression. These include assessment, psycho-education, behavioural activation, medication management, problem solving and guided self-help.

The successful candidate will also receive additional specialist in-house training in a range of relevant clinical areas, such as dealing with long-term physical conditions, medically unexplained symptoms and research methodology. We are a friendly, ambitious and academic team, and PWPs are encouraged to develop specialist interests, and be involved in carrying out research projects. The service has links with both Staffordshire and Keele Universities, and this is therefore an excellent opportunity for an ambitious, self-motivated individual wishing to progress their clinical career
