Closing date: 04/07/2019

Interview date (w/c): Not specified

Salary: Volunteer

Employment type: Volunteer

Hours per week: Approx 2 hours per week

Why we need you

There are now nine volunteers who give time to the National Autistic Society Worcestershire Branch, and they now find that they are spending a few hours a week on administration.

We would like someone who can give two hours a week, working from home, to supporting the branch activities and events that take place across the county.

The charity has over 100 branches and groups, all run by volunteers, who provide local support to people affected by autism. Every branch is different and so are the activities they provide – they may run parent support groups, adult social groups, children’s activities, conferences or focus on providing information or campaigning. However, no matter how big or small, all branches are hugely valued by the people in their local area.

What you will be doing

  • Event planning:
  • Booking venues
  • Publicity
  • Producing risk assessments to send to Branch Engagement Officer for approval
  • Organising branch committee meetings 3-4 times per year
  • Keeping up-to-date records of School SENCOs
  • Liaising with Branch Chair and other volunteers on a regular basis

Skills qualities and experience needed

  • A working knowledge of Word, Excel and e-mail (an e-mail address will be provided)
  • A willingness to be trained in GDPR, and to follow the rules on GDPR issued by the NAS
  • Reliable, well-organised and committed
  • Access to your own computer

When and where

  • The hours given as a volunteer are flexible, but an estimation is that 2 hours per week will be needed.
  • Home based, but some meetings will be arranged with Branch Chair and other volunteers at suitable venues

Support

  • Designated branch support officer to answer any queries and support you with the day to day running of the branch.
  • Written guidance on a range of branch communications
  • Access to online learning modules
  • Insurance cover for all branch activities
  • Expenses covered for attendance at any event organised by the NAS Branches Team

What you could get out of it

  • Improve support to families affected by autism in your local area
  • Access free training and learn new skills
  • Meet new people

We seek applications from anyone interested in the role, but particularly welcome applications from those on the autism spectrum
