The role

We are recruiting for an Air Traffic Support Officer (ATSO) who, under the daily direction of the on-duty Air Traffic Control Watch Management Team will fulfil a technical, administrative and practical support role within the ATC Department, so as to ensure the operational continuity and safety is maintained at all times.

The responsibilities are not limited to but will include:

  • Providing support and assistance to the Air Traffic Control Officer (ATCO) as necessary, to enable the department to achieve a safe efficient, orderly and sustainable ATC service
  • Providing aeronautical information to both ATC staff and airline customers
  • Being fully conversant with ATC and relevant airside operational procedures
  • To produce and handle meteorological data as required
  • To effectively and tactically manage the stand plan on a daily basis
  • To support the development and maintenance of competences of Air Traffic Controllers through use of the ATC simulator
  • Follow emergency orders, assist in the coordination of emergency procedures in the event of an incident or accident.
  • Taking reporting action and working with the relevant internal departments and external authorities to provide accurate, timely information supporting ATCOs.

Those applying for this role should be confident and an articulate communicator, IT literate with the ability to work across multiple applications.

You will need to be able to work well under pressure, prioritise your own workload and demonstrate dynamic decision-making skills.

A desire to learn and engage with continuous personal development.
