The role

As GP Clinical Lead, you will work together with the service’s Business Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality, sustainable clinical services for St Thomas Road Surgery, supported by the OneMedical Group leadership team.

You will lead the practice clinical team in delivering high quality clinical care to the patients registered and attending the GP service. You will lead the design and delivery of a model of care at the practice that gives the best care to the patient population registered with the service. As Clinical Lead, you will have dedicated time to carry out your leadership role (a split of 75% clinical duties and 25% leadership time).

You will support the Business Manager in the performance of their service including Key Performance Indicators, financial effectiveness, and quality schedules.

You will lead innovation that focuses on improving the holistic health wellbeing of individuals and the communities in which they live, focused on health creation, a greater understanding of mental wellbeing, personalised care, continuity of care. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved in developing innovations across the whole Group and influence thinking on how we better deliver primary care. 

You will be supported by a wider network of peers across the group, along with our GP Workforce Development Lead and will receive training and professional coaching on leadership to support with your own growth, so you will thrive in your new role.

You will be able to lead and develop your practice while having the stability of a salaried role.

St Thomas Road Surgery is based in Normanton in Derby, we are a small friendly practice that cares for a diverse population in one of the most deprived areas in the city. 

We look to deliver the best patient outcomes and service, focused on promoting wellbeing, delivering planned personalised care, good patient continuity and access to the right care at the right time, through innovation.

The practice population is 4400 patients

Location

St Thomas Road Surgery, lister house, 207 St Thomas Rd, Pear Tree, Derby. The surgery is located within a short distance to Derby City Centre, has good public transport links and limited on-site parking.

Demographic

Our practice population reflects the diverse community within which it sits. The majority of our patients are young, between the ages of 20 - 50, and whilst we have a lower prevalence of long-term conditions than the local average, the impact of the wider and social determinants of health is significant. Our patient demographic sits in the 1st most deprived decile; working to care for this community is hugely rewarding and offers great variety. Asthma, diabetes and mental health conditions are most common within our patients.

Given the demographic it is rare that home visits for patients are required, and does not currently provide services within care homes
