We are currently looking for an Assistant Training Officer to help deliver a range of seafarer training across our fleet. This is an integral role to the business that will allow us to make sure that all of our sefarers have all of the necessary and up to date training to allow us to run our services safely and efficiently.
You will be supporting the training manager in developing, maintaining and improving the fleet training programme. These training programmes are carried out within our shore based locations and will meet both statutory and business needs.
The role has both a teaching and administrative elements. You will be leading a number of seafaring training courses and making sure that all attendees meet a minimum standard. You will also be keeping and updating records liaising with the ships to make sure that all sefarers have their training updated as and when needed as well as working with new starters to provide all of the initial training so that they can execute all of their duties onboard.
You will also be in charge of all course material updating as necessary and keeping the training area and training aids clean and well maintained. This role is suitable for someone who has experience of seafaring training and not just general training.
To be successful in this role it is essential that you have the following skills:
- Seagoing experience at PO/ Officer level or experience in maritime training
- Knowledge of LSA and FFA equipment and systems
- MNTB approved instructor training
- Maintenance skills related to training equipment
- Ability to deliver training to large groups
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- A good organiser with strong administrative skills.
