Apprenticeship – Deck Rating
These opportunities available are non-live on board and will require you travelling to and from the Port of Dover on a daily basis.
Do you want to be one of the new Deck Rating Apprentices for our September 2021 intake?
You will spend time at College and gain experience on board our ships on the Dover to Calais route during the two year Merchant Navy Training Board apprenticeship programme. Full training and support will be provided.
On this Apprenticeship programme you will achieve skills and certification in:
- STCW Basic Training (safety)
- Level 2 Award in Maritime Studies (Safety)
- Watch Rating Certificate STCW Reg III/4
- Efficient Deck Hand
- MCA Able Seafarer STCW Reg II/5 Certificate
- Level 2 certificate in Maritime Studies Qualification (Able Seafarer Deck)
You will need minimum GCSE qualifications at grade 4 in Maths, English or equivalent to be accepted onto the college programme.
In addition you are a self-starter, team player, problem solver, happy to work shifts and able to pass the MCA seafarer medical requirements for working at sea - this will need to be a full unrestricted medical certificate.
Please note this is a non-live on board role and will involve travelling to the Port of Dover on a daily basis to fulfill shift requirements.
