Riverside have a new opportunity for a project assistant working part-time, on a permanent, shift rota basis.


Who you’ll be helping

Blackmore House is a specialist supported housing scheme for people over 40, with mental health needs, with or without additional support requirements, for example around mobility issues or cognitive needs.  We work flexibly, with a strengths based approach to help those people living with us to develop practical skills, identify and work towards their own goals, and to develop confidence and resilience.  We provide both long and short-term stays, and can offer assessment or re-enablement placements.

The work is focussed on helping people to gain and maintain their independence and empowering them to make choices for their lives.

Blackmore House is staffed from 8am until 9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a years.

What will you do?

As a trusted member of our team, you will play a vital role, providing support and advice to customers. You’ll also assist them in accessing third party services such as benefits, healthcare, and social activities. This post is based in a supported housing scheme that specialises in support for people who experience mental health issues.  Your shift will involve duties that include supporting our customers to manage daily living.  This can include, shopping, budgeting, cooking and organising activities aimed at getting people involved.  There are also duties around scheme health and safety and ensuring that our customers live in an attractive and psychologically informed environment. 

Day to day

Your responsibilities as a Blackmore House project assistant will include:

• Supporting our customers, in the community as well as within their homes
• Maintaining the living environment i.e. cleaning and repairs to include Health & safety
• Administration, accessing our case management systems

Does this describe you?
You are positive, resilient and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You also have basic IT skills.

Ideally, you have experience of working with vulnerable clients in a housing/social care setting. If not, you will be given on-the-job training but already have the empathy, interpersonal skills and sensitivity to appreciate how everyday housing issues impact on quality of life.
