We currently have an opportunity for a Payroll Administration Assistant to join our Finance Team.

This post is a critical role in Scottish Canals finance function to provide the payroll support and administration for the organisation’s circa 270 employees.  

The role is offered on a permanent basis and attracts a salary of up to circa £22,000 pa. Full time and part time applicants will be considered.

Scottish Canals operates a hybrid working, with the role based initially at our Glasgow office for two days a week and working from home three days a week for full time employees. This can be altered for potential part time employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Collation of payroll documents from all departments and inputting into payroll system
  • Administration of new starts, leavers and other changes on payroll system and maintaining employee details
  • Manual time sheet collation and input from across Scottish Canals departments
  • Pension reporting, external monthly payment instructions and monthly management of databases
  • Payroll reporting across the business on a monthly basis
  • Payroll checking, amendments and confirmation of changes to payroll provider
  • Responding to payroll queries from the business and the payroll provider
  • HMRC reporting
  • Compliance with GDPR

 Essential Criteria:

  • Previous payroll and administration experience
  • Proficient use of business applications including use of Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisation skills, multi-tasker and analytical

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of Moorepay or a similar payroll provider.
