Job Description

SIG Plc. is a leading supplier of specialist building materials to trade customers across Europe as a specialist distributor of insulation and interiors products and merchant of roofing and exterior products.


We are looking to recruit an Branch Manager who will lead the Operations function within the Branch. It is expected that the Branch Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the operations teams across warehouse, transport & sales


Key responsibilities:
• Work closely with all members of the branch team in order to establish and maintain the highest levels of customer service.
• Work closely with brands to maintain specialisation within site.
• Provide leadership, coaching and motivation of all team members.
• Recruit, develop, retain, appropriately reward and recognise the achievements of talented managers, supervisors and staff who strongly associate with the culture of the Company
• Take responsibility for the delivery of sales and profit growth and ensure the achievement of high-performance levels from all areas of the branch
• Set direction for warehouse, and transport activities within the business
• Set direction for buying policy and stock levels within the business, ensuring that products can be sourced at optimum levels in order to achieve maximum profitability for the site

The successful candidate will also follow the “Zero Harm” culture within the branch, which recognises and promotes the absolute importance of health and safety and environmentally responsible behaviour. Lead by example in actively promoting and instilling a culture where health and safety of every team member is the number one priority.


The successful candidate will require:
• Experience within the construction industry ideally gained in the local area.
• Have a track record of success in within similar role
• Proven experience of reducing Cost to Serve while developing improved standards and service
• Strong communication skills and confidence to work with senior management as well as relate to the operators within the branch
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, influencing and communication skills
• Commercial awareness of overall business performance as well as branch performance.
• A strong Customer Focus (both internal and external) and a commitment to quality, excellence and continuous improvement, are able to prove results with KPI’s.
• Previous exposure to a broad range of business issues and operational issues, coupled with the ability to deal with a heavy volume of work and exercise judgment through evaluation and analysis.
• The ability to spot further opportunities and make a linkage between your activities and capabilities and the needs of the business.
• Computer Literate with a good knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel
