Site Technician, SOCOTEC, London and Surrounding Areas

We are seeking a Site Technician to support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Infrastructure Division. Over the past 30 years, SOCOTEC Monitoring has provided measurement and monitoring for critical structures which might be affected by demolition or construction, such as property developments, tunnels, deep excavations, highways and railways. This service provides an early warning to stakeholders regarding any movements which may pose a potential risk to project timescales or budgets. SOCOTEC Monitoring has earned its reputation as a valued partner for delivering geotechnical monitoring services on large civil engineering projects globally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out installations, maintenance, and repair work as required
  • Use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Work in a range of environments, including confined spaces and at height
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and site plans
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and regulations
  • Work as part of a team or independently to meet project deadlines
  • Travel to different site locations, sometimes staying away from home as required
  • Has a keen eye for detail
  • Strong practical, hands-on skills
  • Flexibility with working environments and keen for an outside-based role
  • Be a long-term, career-minded individual

Requirements:

  • Comfortable working on active construction sites or industrial environments
  • Proficient with hand tools and power tools
  • Keen eye for detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Physically fit and capable of working at height and in confined spaces
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving license (or equivalent)
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working on the railway or rail-related infrastructure projects
  • Relevant electrical or site safety certifications (e.g., ECS, PTS, IPAF, PASMA)
  • Experience in I&M work

Additional Information:

  • Standard working hours with flexibility for overtime, night shifts, or weekends as needed
  • Occasional travel and overnight stays required (accommodation provided)
