Building Control Structural Checking Engineer

To support our ambitious growth plans, we have a great opportunity to join our Building and Real Estate Division. SOCOTEC's Building Control teams provide an award-winning, flexible and forward-thinking approach, as well as a high level of technical capability, providing our clients with cost-effective and practical solutions for the full range of structural engineering challenges.

We're looking for a Building Control Structural Checking Engineer to provide exceptional service to our customers whilst supporting the growth and management of our structural engineering team. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing client relationships and projects from inception to completion, including detailed design reviews and structural risk assessments
  • Mentoring and supporting a team of junior engineers, reviewing their work and driving technical development
  • Attending sites to undertake inspections and investigations, preparing assessment and investigation reports
  • Assisting with bidding, strategic decision-making and supporting our multi-disciplinary offering across the business

  • Chartered status with the Institution of Civil and/or Structural Engineers with an accredited honours degree in civil/structural engineering
  • At least seven years' experience in structural engineering with passion for the discipline
  • Strong client relationship management skills and the ability to identify business development opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
  • Self-motivation, strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
